Sara encourages clients to start with an acoustic upright piano from Cannon Pianos in San Bernardino.
And American Piano Factory in Bloomington, Indiana.

She does not begin piano lessons with the same method for every student. Piano lessons begin with an evaluation on music background. Little children usually are started with Alfred's Music for Little Mozart's, but that not every case; again it depends on the student.

The most common piano method for youngsters is the Alfred's Piano Premier series. Later she supplements with scales, Hanon's Virtuoso Piano skills book, or Fingerpower depending on the student. The students can continue with this method and/or join the Piano Guild to perform in the Auditions to achieve certificates and various awards.

Next are the adult students. Either we use the Adult Alfred's piano method or college textbooks and method books. Adult students are encouraged to start classical training before they advance to Jazz and Blues.

One of the most challenging music instruments is the violin family. Before you buy a violin, please make an appointment with a certified violin maker aka Luthier to ensure the proper violin family instrument is sized to the student. A violin is not complete without the proper bow. The bow is the most essential part of the violin. Just as a mouthpiece is essential to a wind-instrument to create the sound needed, the bow too is needed to create that beautiful singing from a violin.

Don't assume that every violin method book is the same and every teacher is the same. Violin training requires years of painstaking work to achieve the success. The most important aspect of a violin player is the ability to listen and hear.

Brass winds
/
The tradition for great trumpet players has always started with the Bb cornet. I too started with the cornet for wind instruments. Though the cornet is shorter that the trumpet, its sound is more rewarding for soprano brass instruments. Cornets were created in the 19th century and blossomed into one of the most revered brass wind instruments of all time. Cornets can come in various music keys (tonic) A, B flat, C, and E flat. The cornet player is generally the lead part of a brassband aka cornet band.

Trumpets date back more than 2000 years even to the time used in the Holy Bible by the priests of the Holy Temple. Trumpets were fanfare music instruments until the early 1900's. Trumpets are made in various music keys like the cornets. Trumpets were first natural horns without valves to change notes, only partials could be used like a bugle. Now modern trumpets can come in various sizes and valve keys (piston or rotary) and used from Classical to Jazz genres. Trumpets also come as piccolo which makes the trumpet a true soprano instrument in the orchestra.
